I will be 33 when I apply to the schools for an MBA ? Does this place me at a disadvantage ? I have done my Bachelors and Masters in Engineering and have about 8 years of Work Experience.
By itself, the age will not be a damning factor.
In general, when evaluating older applicants, B-schools will one major concern - employability.
If you are not very clear about why you need an MBA or what you want to do after the MBA or if your goal is unrealistic or too ambitious, then you're in trouble. For instance, if you've spent a long time in one career track, switching to something completely different will be very tough. And the schools know this. So they would not want to take in someone who may become a liability later.
In a nutshell - if you are clear about your goals and your goals are achievable given the schools you're applying to, you shouldn't have a problem.
Obviously, the sooner you apply, the better. Don't put this off for another year. And pick schools with a higher average age in the class (28-29 years).
