Not so sure between C and D, but I pick D.

I agree. C is way too convoluted and unidiomatic.

I also think D is better, in her home is closer to Aho in this choice

D it is.

C is wrong coz C means that she was a matriacrch in her home, but probably something else outside her home?? ...in her home...modifies matriarch!

E is wrong coz it conveys the meaning that the home featured the festivals.

The festivals featured all the stuff.....
