A has problem with THEY.

E changes the meaning.
Originally: festivals featured ...

D is the best answer.

I was thinking 'E' myself. The correct answer though is 'D,' at least based on what was given in the 'answer sheet.'

I can see how D is different from E now.

D has "festivals that featured"

E has "festivals in her home that featured"

D - the festivals feature something

E - her home featuers something

E does change the meaning. I didn't see it before.

Hi balboa,

The confusion between D and E can be resolved by checking the coordination level.

D: results in fragement – no clear independent clause

E: resolves this by introducing a clear independent clause which is combined by relate pronoun which acts as modifying phrase

Answer: E

In my point of view, home in E could feature the preparation. In fact, festivals featured the preparation.

I agree. A home can feature something, but looking at the list of what is featured, it doesn't make sense that a home would feature these things: Great quantities of food, wearing of many layers of clothing adorned with silver, and recounting of traditional tribal jokes and stories.

I can see how a home could feature great quantities of food, but I don't see how a home could feature the other two.
