C.

(A) fund, with the intention to sustain the state’s economy after the exhaustion of its oil reserves
Verbose. "With the intention to" - seems awkward
(B) fund, the intention of which is to sustain the state’s economy after they have exhausted their oil reserves
"which" cannot modify whole clause.
(C) fund intended to sustain the state’s economy after oil reserves are exhausted
Short and sweet. Keep
(D) fund intended to sustain the state’s economy after exhausting its oil reserves
fund cannot "exaust a states oil reserve". can it?

(E) fund that they intend to sustain the state’s economy after oil reserves are exhausted
they - more often than not have no clear antecedent.

Although C is a passive construction, it is the only option that works in this case. Definitely C

I didnt like any answer. I have seen this question before. I know C is the answer.
But what I dont get about C is that it says "fund intended to sustain the state’s economy after oil reserves are exhausted "

But it is not the intention of fund isnt it. It is Alaska's intention.

In this sentence it is the intention of the fund!

If A said "..with the intention of sustaining.." and didn't use "it", it could be correct and then we would get that the intention belonged to the action of depositing some of profits.

However, other than A all the answers modify "fund". So, there is not a trouble there.

^ C ^ should be the answer.

All the answers include unclear "its"s or "they"s.

in (A) and (B) fund is trying to modify "intnetion" which is not true

D has a "its" whose antecedent is not clear and (E) sounds wrong with "they"

Please let me know if my reasoning is wrong

Would pick "C"
