B is the best choice. (Sentence is checking for parallelism.. effecting, entering)

I would say it is D. My reasoning:

The punctuation in A is wrong. When two independent clauses are united by a phrase, this phrase is separaded by a semicolon and comma.

Alcohol is the only drug that is soluble in both fat and water; as such, it can enter all parts of the human body, affecting[/url] virtually every cell and biological pathway.

Also, A offers a vague pronoun (IT). Alcohol or water?
B employs wrong punctuation as well though it looks OK (concise and parallel). But semicolon is clearly wrong.

Ideas?

Well, I voted A not because I like this choice but because the others seem to be even worse

There is nothing grammatically wrong with A at least

Yes, B has the punctuation error. But D also seems incorrect.
"..water, and as such entering ... to affect..." seems incorrect to me.

More ideas?

Concur with Stolyar! you need independent clause after semi-colon, so (B) is out.

A,C,E all has pronoun reference error.

(D) is fine.

53s , went with A.

B is wrong because one doesnt know what is entering the body, there has to be a subject or a pronoun reference
C is wrong because , the human body seems to be doing the affecting
D (most likely contender) I am not too comfortable using the continous tense here , usage of "entering" made me chose A
E is wrong because, water seems to be doing the affecting

my ans is A.

A is best
B and C are discarded because they each have independent clauses, without any subject, after the semi-colon
D) what follows "and" should be an independent clause but yet, the latter part has no subject
E) "which" has unclear referent

A for Aha!

It's the inherent characteristic of alcohol which affects the body. The "to affect" in D is not correct in my opinion. The accidental affect is compared to justified affect.

Alcohol enters the body and affect virtually every………
Alcohol enters the body to affect virtually every……
