algabra equation ? [#permalink] New post 07 Sep 2011, 02:13
hi guys
if x is a positive integer, is y^2(x^3-x+1)>75?

1)y>1
2)(x-1)^2=16

OA is C

but the equation (x-1)^2= 16 equal to x-1=4 ====> x=5
what about the negative sign? here does the equation x-1)^2=16 has 2 solutions or just one which is x-1=4 ====> x=5
