Hi guys, have a question here:

If 2x^2 -3x -m is divisible by (x-3) what is m?

1. -18
2. -9
3.-6
4. 9
5. 18

Thanks!
PS: I got right about the absolute value of the answer, but not its sign. So what wondering what is the rule to follow...

Since x-3 is a factor of 2x^2-3x-m, then it can be factored as (x-3)(2x+k) (notice we used 2x in the second factor as we need to get 2x^2)--> 2x^2-3x-m=(x-3)(2x+k)=2x^2-(6-k)x-3k --> 6-k=3 --> k=3 --> m=3k=9.

Answer: D.
