can someone explain how pq = (0.5p)(1 + x)q can be rewritten as pq = (0.5)(1 + x)pq? I know this is relatively simple but cant envision it after long day of studying. Thanks!

You see, a*b*c= a*c*b = b*a*c etc

similary, pq= (0.5p)(1+x)q
is equivalent to: pq= 0.5*p * (1+x)*q
or
pq= 0.5*(1+x)*p*q
