I've read a lot about the benefits of having a "streamlined" application in which your work experience aligns with your career goals. If you are looking to shift industries, is there any value in camouflaging your career goals solely for the purpose of applications?

I don't want to be disingenuous on my applications, but at the same time I want to maximize my chances of admission. People may say that you (the applicant) will be more persuasive/passionate about something that you really want to do vice some contrived career path, so that would outweigh the benefit of app streamlining. I'm not sure what the answer is here...

Thoughts anyone?

Your career trajectory does not have to be perfect and admissions is not looking for candidates to have work experience in the field they desire to transition to. However, they do want to see that you have researched it well and have compelling and well thought out reasons for this transition. Just so that you feel a bit more confident, an overwhelming number of candidates who apply to and attend business school do so to change careers.
