Hi,

May I have the list of B-Schools who offers the 1 Year MBA program with their ranking. But here I am not talking about the advanced executive course which has a prerequisite of knowledge in business administration or anything. I require only the international full time 1 year MBA course.

Thanks & Regards
Supratik De

We shall try to post rankings of 1 year programs if they are available. Give us some time to search for these rankings.

Narenn

I am also looking for the ranking of 1 year - 16 months programs.
Also - can you please guide me as to which programs have an internship included, as I feel they are extremely helpful in getting placements.

Bro, the only reasonable program that fulfills your time and internship requirements is INSEAD.
If you extend the time thingy to 18 months, then you can include LBS too.
But no reasonable program will offer you internship and short program duration in a bundle...
As far as rankings are concerned, you may refer to the following.
Kellogg
Johnson
Emory
USC
Notre Dame
Boston U.
Babson
Thunderbird
Florida (Hough)
Katz
Pepperdine
Willamette (Atkinson)

Reference - Poets & Quants

Just a heads-up that the Economist will be announcing its list of top 100 full time MBA programs this month. Here's last year's list: http://www.economist.com/whichmba/full-time-mba-ranking.

I'll be sure to circle back once the rankings are out!

So I was just reading through this ranking. Could someone help me with this: What is the deal with this ranking? In all other rankings (Economist, FT, USNews), the ranking are more or less similar, probably just a change of +/- 1-2 places here and there. But how do Bloomberg rankings have such huge changes for the B School? Why is that?

The methodology is quite different. You can find a number of articles which discuss it.

Between the rankings from USN, BW, Forbes, FT, and QS; is there an "official" Top 10 MBA program? The top 5-7 is usually consistent but the rest differs with different rankings. Top 8-10 ranges from Michigan, Duke, NYU, Cornell, Berkeley, and Yale rounding off the top 10.

So are all these considered "top 10"?

There is no official ranking. Rankings themselves are rather meaningless, but people still look to look at them, so business magazines still make money off of publishing them.

I would say most people think in terms of H/S at the top, W almost at the top, then Booth, Columbia, Kellogg, and Sloan rounding out the "M7". All those school you mentioned (Ross, NYU, Fuqua, Cornell, Haas, Yale) are seen as great, would be put into their own tier.

Here's a repost from the Crowdsouced MBA rankings, where 20,000 people rated schools against one another: http://www.allourideas.org/topmbarankings/results

The Best:
Harvard - 89 (scores out of 100)
Stanford - 89

- Again, no debate - (unless you're BusinessWeek). The only reason either of these does not score 100 is because of the other.

Almost H/S:
Wharton - 81

- Clearly behind H/S, but clearly distanced from the rest of pack.

M7:
Columbia: 72
Northwestern - 69
Chicago - 69
MIT - 66

- These schools have all narrowed - they're clearly behind H/S/W, but clearly ahead of everyone else. At this point in the rankings, it seems like from a "which is better" perspective, what really matters is your personal preference on location, career, etc.

The "M9"?:
UC Berkeley - 56
Dartmouth - 52

- These two schools are consistent in outperforming the remainder of schools - however, still clearly behind the M7. Very steep drop off here.

Almost Elite:
NYU - 42
Duke - 42
Yale - 41

- BusinessWeek's #1 school is fallen to #11 here - meaning on average, there are 10 schools that people would rather go to. That said, Duke and Yale seem to be on their way up, while NYU seems to be heading down.

Almost Almost Elite:
UCLA - 29
UVA - 29
UMich - 27
Cornell - 22

The Rest of the Best:
CMU - 10
UT - 8

Full List
Harvard - 89
Stanford - 89
Wharton - 81
Columbia - 72
Northwestern - 69
Chicago - 69
MIT - 66
UC Berkeley - 56
Dartmouth - 52
NYU - 42
Duke - 42
Yale - 41
UCLA - 27
UVA - 29
UMich - 27
Cornell - 22
CMU - 10
UT - 9

Thanks for the reply but the Crowdsourced MBA ranking doesn't hold any weight in my book. I went to the webpage and took a look at the survey. The survey wasn't completed by 20K people but on 20K votes. In the time I took to take the survey, I think I casted over 50+ votes.

Survey or no, there is no "official" ranking. The list still holds.

There's Harvard and Stanford.
Then there's the rest of the M7... Wharton, Columbia, Booth, Kellogg, Sloan
Then there's the best of the rest... Haas, Tuck, Duke, Ross, Darden, Johnson

At the end of the day, you should figure out what you want to do and find the schools that fit best for you and gives you the best shot.

This, I think, is the gist of entire discussion. Rankings should be taken with a pinch of salt and one should really target the schools according to his/her profile and future goals. e.g. Check out this applicant; He had been admitted to both Wharton(with ) and INSEAD but chose Insead over Wharton because of personal preferences. abhisheksahay
