Would you guys agree with the opening post in that the GMAT Prep practice tests (2 free) are the MOST accurate predictor of how you are going to do? I just got a 690 on practice test 1, but I just don't feel like I am at that level yet.

How accurate is old MGMAT tests? I have a few on a CD I got from a friend, I think they are from 2006 or so. Worth doing?

The number of questions that were answered right/wrong is not an indicator of anything. Are you getting a different score on other practice tests?

but anyone that misses only 2 questions in a CAT test would have to answer correctly many difficult ones and would reach a very high score, isn't it? bb wrote: rongali wrote: i think knewton gmat practice test scoring is not accurate....i did gave that test & got 48 in quant even though only two questions are wrong... Has anyone heard of Bell Curves? I did take one of their practice tests. Scored 34 in quant. I scored 44 in the real GMAT lol! But scoring aside, I found their quant questions to be quite challenging. (barring 1 or 2 wrong OAs)

Hi rongali, Thanks for your question about CAT scoring. As bb says, CATs are different from linear assessments (like the SAT or a history test in school). A computer-adaptive test doesn’t really care as much about how many questions you get right or wrong, but rather which questions you get right and wrong. Your scaled score is calculated based on a variety of criteria, including the difficulty of a question. In the case of your particular Quant score -- which is still very solid! -- the difficulty of the items you missed was likely the determining factor. If you excelled on harder questions but missed two questions that the test determined were in your ability range, your score would be lower than it would have been otherwise. Hope that helps, and keep up the good work! Chris

Thanks to OP about free tests in the MGMAT books , I didn't realize and almost overlooked! BTW I would recommend MGMAT to anyone on the fence about it. Worth the investment!

I am on the cusp of chomping through some practice tests and I had a question about MGMAT practice tests... They say each book comes with access to 6 tests, so if you buy the set of 8 is that access to 6*8=48 or each book has access to the same 6 so if you bought 1 or 8 books, you get access to 6 tests, period. Can anyone or the MGMAT rep shed some light on this? This was also something I was wondering before I had purchased but still havent got a straight answer on Thanks! Posted from my mobile device
