For a comprehensive overview of GMAT Scores, please see GMAT Scores Hi guys, I have decided to post something useful for all the people taking the GMAT. Very often people ask themselves: "ok, I need at least a 680 score (for example) to be considered by Y school, but how much I need in terms of Q and V?" Thus, in order this not to be a mistery anymore, I have decided to post a very nice XLS file containing all gmat scores in range from 470 to 800 and related Q and V scores. Each gmat score has its combination of Q and V scores. So, if you are excellent in math, for example, and you need the score of 700+, just look how much you need to acquire in verbal section. p.s. We all know that GMAT is a mystery, so some actual gmat scores may differ by -/+10 points. The most accurate presentation of scores is in the range from 500 to 750. Scores in 760-800 range are subject to variations, but believe me you should not worry about this with the GMAT score higher than 750. Attachment:

nice effort, but i'm not sure it's all that accurate. for starters, there are regularly reported cases of different people with the same breakdown (Q and V scores) but different total scores. also, to quote one specific example, look on your sheet for my GMAT breakdown, and compare it to my actual score. while i'd love to have an 800, i'm nowhere near that.

Yeas, you are right, but roughly it is more or less accurate. How the total GMAT score is calculated a mystery for most people, for me as well. But my intention was just to provide an approximate estimation of total score, based on verbal and quant individual results. What about your score, franlky speaking, scores of 750+ are even more mysterious in calculation, and as far as I know none of gmatclub members ever received 800, such cases are unique. I wish I could have 770 now I am struggling for at least 650-700. (my verbal is around 30, and my weakest area is RC).

May be it's time to geather ALL ACTUAL scores received by us and put them in one table? Doing this, we can make pretty nice and accurate table with minimum standart deviation For examople, smth like this: ... ... ... Q48/V37 = 710 Q49/V38 = 720 Q50/V39 = 730 Q51/V40 = 740 ... ... ...

Hi Financier Just look here: gmat-vs-preparation-cats-100437.html I think we may either complete that file or complete gmatclub's "calculator" database. Thanks.

Interesting, but not sure how accurate it is or will be in the future. I think the scores change every year, right?

You may take a compbination of score for exmple Q48 V40 and searc in google like : GMAT Q48 V40 - you will see the GMAT score attributed to this combination of raw scores. No, scores do not change every year, only percentile will change.

I got Q51 V46 but a total of 770 whereas someone in GC who wrote months before me (I don't know when exactly, I think <6 months) got 780 for the same breakup. Not that I am too disappointed

Not that I am too disappointed It is actually not a matter of time, the same raw scores contribute to a diff total score and that's not just because of percentile changes (which actually change only once every few years). There are sometimes 2 scores that correspond to the same raw scores - it is strange but happens and I have grown used to it. And yes, sorry to hear about your meager 770 Congratulations man!
