All intelligent people are nearsighted. I am very nearsighted. So I must be a genius.
Which one of the following exhibits both of the logical flaws exhibited in the argument above?
(A) I must be stupid because all intelligent people are nearsighted and I have perfect eyesight.
(B) All chickens have beaks. This bird has a beak. So this bird must be a chicken.
(C) All pigs have four legs, but this spider has eight legs. So this spider must be twice as big as any pig.
(D) John is extremely happy, so he must be extremely tall because all tall people are happy.
(E) All geniuses are very nearsighted. I must be very nearsighted since I am a genius.

I also narrowed down between B & D. How do you eliminate B?

ans D.

very simple..
all intelligent people are nearsighted => all tall people are happy.
i am very nearsighted => john is extremely happy.
so i must be genius(extremely intelligent) => so john must be extremely tall.
so d matches line by line in sense and wording as well.so this is the best ans.

look at B, this bird must be chicken exactly similar to all chicken. this bird has to be sth extra over chicken to match the argument above. got it !! like ..intelligent=>genius. happy=>extremely happy.

This goes against the logic. The logic should move from GOOD to BEST/BETTER with an additional talent
(B) All chickens have beaks. This bird has a beak. So this bird must be a chicken.
Reasoning is similar but this doesnt provide that GOOD To BEST/BETTER.
(C) All pigs have four legs, but this spider has eight legs. So this spider must be twice as big as any pig.
This is going from LESS to MORE
(D) John is extremely happy, so he must be extremely tall because all tall people are happy.
Exactly the same reason as the given questions. All tall people are happy. John am extremely tall. So John is extremely happy.
(E) All geniuses are very nearsighted. I must be very nearsighted since I am a genius.
Reasoning is similar but this doesnt provide that GOOD To BEST/BETTER.

+1 D

There are two logical flaws in abstract terms:
a) Every X is Y. A is Y, so it must be a X. False: Maybe every Z is Y, so we cannot be sure whether A is X.
b) The more I am a X, the more I am a Y.

D has those two logical flaws.
