I have a question about submitting to HBS.

The deadline for HBS is October 3rd, at "12:00 (noon) Boston time". Yesterday, I submitted my application when the time at Boston was 11:15 AM (I verified it using a world clock). However, my receipt said I submitted at 11:15 AM EST. I don't live in America, but as far as I know, Boston is currently at EDT, and not EST! Could it mean they would think I submitted at 12:15? Has anyone noticed it?

EST is Boston... 1115 is fine

Just out of sheer curiosity, if Boston is currently using daylight time (EDT), then how come EST still means Boston?

EDT refers to daylight savings time and EST refers to standard time, the only difference is the the time of year, we observe standard time during the winter and daylight savings time in the spring

Errr.... now you really got me confused. Since EDT applies until November 6th, then how come you say Boston is EST?

We use it interchangeably, I wouldn't worry about it.

Weird. Thanks! I almost got a stroke about it earlier. I was pretty sure it was their mistake, but it's comforting to know for sure that the terms are used interchangeably.

bb, may I suggest this post to be made a sticky? This might get lost, particularly post R1 deadlines, when R1 folks are active while waiting for decisions and R2 folks are getting their application doubts resolved..

Just a thought!

I have found a discrepancy between the dates mentioned in the list for McCombs and the dates published on the website.

Dates as mentioned on the site

Dec 19 Round 1 decision notification
Jan 23 Round 3 App deadline.
Feb 20 Round 2 decision notification
Mar 26 Round 4 App deadline

May 14 Round 4 decision notification

mccombs.utexas.edu/MBA/Full-Time/Admissions/Apply.aspx (add the required prefix at the beginning, cannot include the URLs yet).

Can you please update the list with the dates mentioned on the site?

Thanks - we had both the full and part time programs listed. I have removed the part time program to make it less confusing. The dates should match now.
