All this free time: how are you spending it? [#permalink]

Now that GMATs and applications are done for most people looking at Fall 2012 matriculation, how are you spending your newly regained free time? ..aside from staring at our emails waiting for an interview invite, refreshing application websites waiting for the status to change, or stalking last years threads to figure out the timing of interview invites and admissions results I'll start- 1) I've been taking my dog out more 2) I started going to the gym again 3) I'm looking at joining a rowing club again 4) I've been cooking instead of ordering out 5) Spending more time at work 6) Contemplating adding another school or two in R3

I actually ran marathon #1 the day before one of my admissions interviews. I wouldn't recommend this. Trying to walk up 3 sets of stairs with my interviewer without falling over/passing out was not fun.

Lots of respect for all you marathoners. Takes a lot of physical and mental stamina to pull that off.

I went to bed at 4pm this past weekend... definitely all caught up on sleep again. Now to find new things to lose sleep over...

Strangely I find myself missing the "writing essay" part! Staying up till 5am without sleeping to rush the essays and redoing them 20-30 times! Now I am completely burnt out by work and I almost miss it!!

I definitely lightened up a bit and started watching TV again, or wasting time online or with friends, the bar, etc. But after about a month of that I've started to focus again on what's ahead. Some things I am currently/planning on doing are: +Submitting taxes ASAP so I can start FAFSA +FAFSA app +Purchase Accounting study book to prepare for and test out of basic Accounting core class (replace with elective) +Researching pre-MBA internships opportunities (they do exist) +Taking free classes on entrepreneurship through Stanford's program (www[dot]uncollege[dot]org/archives/1441). Note - you don't have to be a student at Stanford or anywhere to enroll+Watching free lectures on other topics of interest (www[dot]academicearth[dot]org - Justice lectures are very interesting) Sorry if this last bit is a damper to the intention of the thread...I'll go out with this: tonight I plan to get stinking drunk and and worry about tomorrow when it comes.

Most are for diversity groups that I dont apply for. have you found any programs that are more open?

(1) Hitting the gym mercilessly. Trying to get swole before school starts. (2) Informational interviews - Trying to meet up with people in various function/sectors to get a taste of different jobs and roles. (3) I was looking around for pre-MBA internship but nothing good has turned up so far. BEST PART!(4) Relaxing with a book and some wine in the night. (5) Going out with friends more!

One place to try is: http://www.fastweb.com/content/job_searchBesides that, individual effort is probably the best bet. I plan on narrowing down my field of interest, researching some companies, attending events to network, and trying to weasel into an internship before classes start in August. Pre-MBA internships aren't easy to find, but the most valuable opportunities rarely are.
