I would choose C.
It has idiom "as gifted as". he "is ... modest and will not publish ... poetry" is also parallel, no passive voice as in A.

A : seems Ok..but, there is no real relation between being modest and not publishing.

B : as gifted....than improper use.

C : Sounds ok

D : "his being gifted...." unidiomatic

E : sounds odd.

Hence, C shud be the answer

C

because:
A: "and his poetry is unpublished. " un-parallel
B: "as gifted...than" un-idiomatic
D: since "many" is not there, it changes the meaning
E: same as A
