i think huntgmat helped me with this question before, others pointed out that it should have a 'will' in the answer. Anyway C is the best, consider the idiom as...as, and eliminate all of the GMAT-unwanted 'being'

(C)Although he is as gifted as, if not more
gifted than, many of his colleagues,
he is extremely modest and (WILL) not published
his poetry.

I think C has a comma issue after 'than'.
