(A) Although he is as gifted as, if not more gifted than, many of his colleagues, he is extremely modest and his poetry is unpublished.
(B) Although he is as gifted, if not more gifted, than many of his colleagues, he is extremely modest and with his poetry remaining unpublished.
(C) Although he is as gifted as, if not more gifted than, many of his colleagues, he is extremely modest and will not publish his poetry.
(D) Despite his being gifted, if not more gifted than his colleagues, he is extremely modest and will not publish his poetry.
(E) Being a gifted as, or more gifted than, many of his colleagues, he is extremely modest and his poetry is unpublished.

He is extremely modest so he has no trust to himself so that his poetry will not be published although he is gifted . I hope this helps.

(A) Although he is as gifted as, if not more gifted than, many of his colleagues, he is extremely modest and his poetry is unpublished.

can be considered, but c is even better

(B) Although he is as gifted, if not more gifted, than many of his colleagues, he is extremely modest and with his poetry remaining unpublished.

and with his poetry remaining unpublished- sentence looks incomplete
(C) Although he is as gifted as, if not more gifted than, many of his colleagues, he is extremely modest and will not publish his poetry.

correct option

(D) Despite his being gifted, if not more gifted than his colleagues, he is extremely modest and will not publish his poetry.

awkward usage
(E) Being a gifted as, or more gifted than, many of his colleagues, he is extremely modest and his poetry is unpublished.
being a gifted- is awkward , does not make sense

C is a better option than A because in C it is explicitly mentioned that he is the one who is not publishing the poetry .In C it can be taken for example that the publishing company is not publishing his poetry .Hope this helps .

Diff bxn A & C : is in the latter half

(A) .............he is extremely modest and his poetry is unpublished = Parallelism broken

(C) ..............he is extremely modest and will not publish his poetry = Parallelism Intact

C : He is modest.......... AND...........He will not publish = Parallelism scores

Thuc C outweighs A.

"C (over A)

look at although, a contrast, …he is good,

Although he is good, his poems are unpublished

Although he is good, he will not publish his poems

Both are OK (equally good);

Now look at this,

Although he is good, he is too modest and his poems are unpublished

Although he is good, he is too modest and he will not publish his poems

clearly, the 2nd option makes more sense here.

as gifted as drill down to two option (A) and (B)

with
(A) he is extremely modest and his poetry is unpublished.
His is a third person singular possessive determiner.
His is also a possessive pronoun.
You use his to indicate that something belongs or relates to a man, boy, or male animal

here HIS can not indicated to unpublished poetry

with
(C)he is extremely modest and will not publish his poetry.
AND gives additional information about HE i.e he will not publish his poerty

hope it makes sense :)

If the sentence is trying to say "his modesty is the reason he won't publish his poetry", then C is certainly the best answer. But I'm not sure how we're meant to know that's the intended meaning of the sentence. Answer A is just as well-written as C (neither is amazingly well-written, but they're equal), and answer A means something perfectly meaningful too: the sentence might be trying to say "He is gifted, but he is modest and has not yet had much success", which is roughly what A says. So I don't see any particularly compelling reason to prefer one answer to the other (the rest of the answers are clearly wrong, however). Posts above that rule out A because it's passive ("his poetry is unpublished") are not correct -- this is a situation where a passive construction is more natural in English than an active one ("no one has published his poetry" would be a less idiomatic and wordier way to say "his poetry is unpublished").

I am not clear logically about the correct answer. Can anyone post stepwise process to navigate to the correct answer choice.
