both 'seek of' and 'seek from' are not idioms

seek from 'someone' ----- seek from Jane

seek for 'something' ----- seek for money

seek to 'to something' ----- seek to buy the company

the problem here is with the use of 'support from' and 'support of'

support from 'someone' ----- support from Obama

Support of 'something' ----- support of affidavit

So, coming to the answer choices

D makes perfect use of parallelism by using 'to seek' and as it presents 'people (someone)', it's best to use 'support from'

So, D is the right answer.

The core issues here are a) maintaining parallelism, (to seek support and to increase or seeking support and to increase), b) use of idioms (support of or support from) and use of correct diction (first of Britain’s National Museums or Britain’s First National Museums)

Correct version should include the parallel costruction to seek support and to increase, correct idiom support from and correct diction first of Britain’s National Museums. It may also be appreciated that the first in D does not denote the topper here but a batch of toppers and hence the use of among, as I see.

Going by the above, I think D is most befitting.

Although it was once funded entirely by the government, the Victoria and Albert Museum was one of the first of Britain’s national museums seeking support from corporations and private donors and to increase income by increasing attendance.
(A) one of the first of Britain’s national museums seeking support from ......>indicated only one museum, but there are two museums and seeking is not paralled with the non-underlined "to increase"
(B) one of Britain’s first national museums seeking support of .........>indicated only one museum, but there are two museums and seeking is not paralleled with the non-underlined "to increase"
(C) among Britain’s first national museums to seek support of ........>Singular object required (presence of "was" in the non-underlined part indicated subject is singular)
(D)among the first of Britain’s national museums to seek support from .......>Correct for resolving all the issues arose in incorrect answer choices and "to seek" is parallel ed with the non-underlined "to increase"
(E) among Britain’s first national museums that have sought the support of .......>Singular object required (presence of "was" in the non-underlined part indicated subject is singular) and existing parallel error is not resolved here

Correct answer D

Correct answer D

"the Victoria and Albert Museum was" - it's only a single museum. Option A is incorrect solely on the basis of parallelism issue.

(A) one of the first of Britain’s national museums seeking support from
We cannot use one group of leaders however the idom from is correct

(B) one of Britain’s first national museums seeking support of
Again among shpuld be used and wrong use of idiom of

(C) among Britain’s first national museums to seek support of
Wrong use of idiom of

(D) among the first of Britain’s national museums to seek support from
Correct use of among for group of leaders and the idom from is correct

(E) among Britain’s first national museums that have sought the support of
Similar flaws as A , B and C
Hence IMO D
