Although it was once funded entirely by the government, the Victoria and Albert Museum was one of the first of Britain’s national museums seeking support from corporations and private donors and to increase income by increasing attendance. (A) one of the first of Britain’s national museums seeking support from Out... as seeking is not parallel with increase(B) one of Britain’s first national museums seeking support of Out... as seeking is not parallel with increase(C) among Britain’s first national museums to seek support of among Britian's first national museums means one of the very first national museums made in Britan! This isnt correct as per the intention of the author(D) among the first of Britain’s national museums to seek support from Correct - among the first to seek support. Moreover 'to support' is parallel to 'to increase'(E) among Britain’s first national museums that have sought the support of have sought the support of is not the correct verb tense to be used.

both 'seek of' and 'seek from' are not idioms
seek from 'someone' ----- seek from Jane
seek for 'something' ----- seek for money
seek to 'to something' ----- seek to buy the company
the problem here is with the use of 'support from' and 'support of'
support from 'someone' ----- support from Obama
Support of 'something' ----- support of affidavit
So, coming to the answer choices
D makes perfect use of parallelism by using 'to seek' and as it presents 'people (someone)', it's best to use 'support from'
So, D is the right answer.

D is wrong, as explained in the original post.
Between C & E, C maintains the parallelism. So C for me. Which is the correct idiom?? "Seek of" or "Seek from"???

Here the fight is between A and D.. Acc to me D is wrong because among the first of Britan's natinal museums means there were several and this one was one of them.. plz clarify Yes, that is exactly what the sentence intends to say, it was not the first, but "among/one of the" first support of is wrong, so B,C,E out. "to seek" will go with "and to increase". So D is the ans

Seek should be parallel to increase. So A & B are out.
D is wrong, as explained in the original post.
Between C & E, C maintains the parallelism. So C for me.

I would go with D.
A, B, and E are out as they violate parallelism.
C distorts the meaning of original sentence. In C, it sounds like Britain's second, third, fourth etc.....national museums exist, and Victoria and Albert Museum was among the Britain's first national museums.
D is parallel and doesn't appear to distort the meaning.

Although it was once funded entirely by the government, the Victoria and Albert Museum was one of the first of Britain’s national museums seeking support from corporations and private donors and to increase income by increasing attendance. (A) one of the first of Britain’s national museums seeking support from (verb not parallel – seeking support vs. to increase) (B) one of Britain’s first national museums seeking support of (verb not parallel – seeking vs. increase) (C) among Britain’s first national museums to seek support of (first is used as adjective, need to be used as noun?) (D) among the first of Britain’s national museums to seek support from – best answer (E) among Britain’s first national museums that have sought the support of – (verb inconsistent)

"to seek" is parallel to "to increase"
