88. Although many Whites, noting the presence of some Blacks in the middle class, think that the time for enforcing civil rights measures is past, Blacks generally are aware that the figures for average income and unemployment show as wide of a radical discrepancy as ever.
(A) that the figures for average income and unemployment show as wide of
(B) that average-income and unemployment figures show as wide
(C) that the average-income and unemployment figures are showing as wide of
(D) of average-income and unemployment figures that show as wide of
(E) of figures for average income and unemployment showing as wide

[Reveal] Spoiler:
B

However, I do not understand why E is incorrect.... the idiomatic usage of " aware of...." seems to be wrong in this sentence... Am I missing something here?

E-awkward..wrong tense.. unemployment showing as wide.......

i tht D is better than E
why "aware that" instead of "aware of"

I feel "as wide as" is the key here
wanted to know
whether "aware of" is also correct?
here a clause is being introduced...hence "aware that"....

"the figures for average income and unemployment" is better usage compared to "average-income and unemployment figures"

After “Aware “ an idea is being discussed, hence “that” is required. Choice D and E are out.

“as wide of a radical discrepancy as ” is awkward. So choice A and C are out.

IMO the answer is B
