What is the source of this question??
I have some issues in "B". What is the antecedent of "his" in option B??

Yes, thanks Hussain15 for pointing out the mistake.

Now, I also think "his" has no proper antecedent as Moliere's satirical play Tartuffe is mentioned not the name of author.

actually "his" has proper antecedent, you can only refer to possessive nouns by using possessive pronouns, so HIS= Moliere

IMO, B Changes the meaning of the original sentence. What if 'Tartuffe' is not the play being mentioned in the sentence. Maybe Moliere was the considered to the writer of one of the best plays, which is not 'Tartuffe'. In that case B would change the meaning.
I know this might be a over analysis of things of sort  , but this is the line of reasoning I used to not chose B, although it does sound the best option.
Please help!
