key here 'army' is singular subject

'it had' correctly specifies this.

so only E - best.

from A to D number is wrong with pronoiun, Army is singular(collective noun)

is option E gramatically correct gents?

entered russia with far more supplies than for any previous campaign.

looks like far more supplies is being compared with previous campaigns I suppose. Am I right on this?

I went with D, but i see my mistake (thanks to rajeevrks27 explanation).

A, B & C are wrong because Napleon's Army is singular.

Edit: add D to that too.
