E because the other choices have "they" in them; army is singular and referred to as "it" in the last portion of the sentence.

A,B,C,D are wrong because "they" or "their" has no referent

(E) for any previous campaign Hi Army is a collective noun & hence singular. It cant be reffered with a plural pronoun like they or their. Hence E is the correct option.
