(A)?

(B) "plan is to be altered" changes the meaning and does not specify who is going to alter the plan
(C) "had" specifies past tense and hence out.
(D) "its" can refer to "logo" or "plan"
(E) "such universal disapproval" --> not sure what type of disapproval

This is tough one. The present tense "have" in the first part of the sentence kicked my balance off.
The bet is on C and E because the preliminary groups revealed is in the past tense. The action has already taken place.
Now what did they reveal. They revealed something with respect to something that has already taken place. Here we need to go back more in time.

C confuses the order of events universal disaproval and altering the plan

Only E conveys the actions properly with respect to time.

I will stick with E.

A is too wordy
B, again too wordy
C tense error --> no need to use "had"
D company logo cannot have any universal disapproval. Therefore "its" is not appropriate
E most clear and concise. It should be the answer

I agree with Paul.

I guess I used too much of POE

Shouldn't "such universal disapproval" should be worded something like "an initial universal disapproval" or "a huge universal disapproval"?

'such' is appropriate because it explains the extent of the disapproval so as to alter the original plan.

Ex: My dismay was such that I had to reconsider my original plan.
'such' here conveys a heightened feeling of dismay. It is an alternate way of saying: My dismay was so huge that I had to reconsider my original plan.

Thanks for the explanations guys. OA is E.

This is a PR question. Do you think that GMAT allowes the use of "such" without a "that" like in answer E ? Many GMAT books seem discourage it
