I would say (C)? 'its' refers to the turtle and 'jaws function as do teeth' correctly compares jaws and teeth. (E) needs a verb to properly compare jaws and teeth. cheers

A - Eliminate - Usage of "their" and "for"
B, C - Eliminate - Usage of "its" is wrong.

Left with D & E

E has a clear construct when comparing it to D.

Hence E should be the answer.

agree.
i dont think that the usage of 'its' is wrong in choices B and C.
If the usage of its in C is correct and if do is removed from C, will it make a better choice than E ?

its is wrong since "the turtle" is no longer being referred to. "some turtle species" is the subject of this clause. E is the best, I think the answer will hold even if "the" is removed before horny jaws.

Hello catgmat,

Reason why B & C are wrong is because "its" is referring to the "some turtle species" which is wrong.

Hence I decided to eliminate B & C.
