“so... that” is required. The sentence intends to convey that meat in medieval India was a taboo and in fact the extent to which meat was a taboo is expressed by the construction - ‘so taboo that’. The expression - ‘so.....that’ is used to show an extent or a degree.

A) ...taboo enough..... - The meaning intent of the sentence is incorrect, showing a kind of sufficiency by giving the word ‘enough’. 'enough to' is required
B) ...so.....it....- The word ‘that’ must follow the word ‘so’
C Same as A
D)....so taboo to be.....- The meaning intent changes to ‘desired to be’
E) CORRECT
