Among vs amongst [#permalink] New post 05 Jun 2009, 20:45
Dear All,

I was wondering if there is any difference between the usage of "among" and "amongst" in GMAT context? Are there any rules pertaining to these two words?

Many thanks.

Regards,

As far as I know there is no difference but my suspicion would be that only Among is used as I never seen Amongst on the GMAT.

According to this article: http://www.dailywritingtips.com/among-vs-amongst/, amongst is the more old-fashioned version and therefore would not likely be in the GMAT text, but if it does show up, it won't be wrong grammatically.
