(C) the abundance of capital for commercial real estate has been such,
(D) such has the abundance of capital been for commercial real estate that
(E) such has been an abundance of capital for commercial real estate,

could someone explain why D is incorrect ?

I would stick with A between all of the choices.
B doesn't work b/c of the "..., so that" doesn't fit.
C doesn't work b/c it needs "that" after such
D doesn't work b/c "such has the abundance of capital been..." is awkward and wordy (at least more so than option A)
E doesn't work b/c it needs "that" to continue the sentence.

I think A is correct, it's simple and to the point. A is not cluttered with fluffy words.

"such" should be used for examples, I don't think the sentences that follow the word "such" present as an example
