An ingredient in maijuana known as THC has been found to inactivate herpes viruses in experiments. In previous experiments researcher found that inactivated herpesviruses can convert healthy cells into cancer cells. It can be concluded that the use of marijuana can cause cancer.

Which of the following if true weaken the argument.

A Several teams of scientists performed the various experiments and all of the team had similar results

The charcinogic efffect of Marijuana could be neutralized by other ingredients found in marijuana

When THC kills herpesviruses it weakens the immune system, and thus might diminish the body's ability to fight other viruses. Included viruses linked to cancers.

If chemist modify the structure of THC, THC could be easilly incorporated into medications to prevent herpes

To lessen the undesiderable effects of chemiotherapy, the use of mariyuana has been recommended for cancer patients who are free of the herpesvirus

I think, options A, B and D can be immedeately ruled out as they do not weaken the arguments at all. Now, we are left with C and E. C sounds like a better answer to me. The argument claims that the use of marijuana can cause cancer by killing Herpes virus which in turn turns healthy cells to cancer cells. C gives different explanation for the cause of cancer and hence weakens the argument.

it is B. if other components present in marijuana neutralizes The charcinogic efffect, then marijuana is not the cause of cancer.

so B weakening the conclusion. Hence the right choice.

Yes. It's B. I tried to over-read into the arg. Just hoping not make that kinda stupid mistakes in the real test. thanks guys.
