Following is a dialogue that took place at a mall X between two colleagues Andy and Bill:

Andy: Whenever I come to shop with my wife at our favorite Westside apparel store of mall X, I have seen you there on almost every visit.
Bill: Really? I too am a regular visitor and a loyal customer of the Westside brand, but whenever I have been there with my wife and children, I have seen you approximately once in five visits only. After all, the Westside store at mall X is a mini store capable of accommodating very few customers at the same time.

Assuming both the colleagues are speaking the truth, which of the following can be most logically inferred?

A. Andy visits mall X with his wife only, whereas Bill visits the mall with both his wife and children.
B. The Westside store at Mall X is the most frequently visited apparel store by Andy and Bill at mall X.
C. Andy is a better observer as he noticed Bill on almost every visit as compared to Bill, who observed
Andy at the mall in only 20 percent of his visits.
D. Bill visits the Westside apparel store at Mall X more frequently than Andy does.
E. The Westside store, being a mini store is mostly visited by loyal customers of Westside when they visit
Mall X.

I agree.

A) Passage does not say that Andy visits only with his wife
B) Tempting because we know that it is a favourite shop for Andy and his wife but this does not mean most frequented for Andy and Bill
C) irrelevant
D) Given that Bill only sees Andy on 20% of visits and Andy sees Bill on almost every visit it, this can be logically inferred
E) Inverse logic

Hope this helps

IMO D.

A. Andy visits mall X with his wife only, whereas Bill visits the mall with both his wife and children.
Nothing to infer here. This is given in the question. Inferences are things you have to "extrapolate" from the given set of premises.
B. The Westside store at Mall X is the most frequently visited apparel store by Andy and Bill at mall X.
Out of scope. Nothing is said about that.
C. Andy is a better observer as he noticed Bill on almost every visit as compared to Bill, who observed
Andy at the mall in only 20 percent of his visits.
percentage trap! Also, this is illogical.
D. Bill visits the Westside apparel store at Mall X more frequently than Andy does.
Correct.
E. The Westside store, being a mini store is mostly visited by loyal customers of Westside when they visit
Mall X.
Out of scope. Nothing is said about that.

D. Bill visits the Westside apparel store at Mall X more frequently than Andy does.
Correct. Only D passes the fact test using the mentioned argument.
E. The Westside store, being a mini store is mostly visited by loyal customers of Westside when they visit Mall X.

Hi Ralphcuisak,
++ By fact test i meant, something that can be proved by using the information provided in the argument.
++In such Qs u shall always refrain yourself from picking answer choices that can't be proved using the info. mentioned in argument or which is not mentioned in arg. In short, don't
infer too much!!
++ Avoid options that can be "could be true" and "likely to be true" but does not necessarily have to be absolutely true.
++ Double check strong language options.
++I would recommend you to go through eGmat/MGmat articles on the same. Sharing a few links:
inference-vs-assumption-146758.html
concept-article-how-to-tackle-must-be-true-or-inference-cr-162910.html
++Try OG questions on this topic and analyze all the options, correct as well as incorrect.

Hope this helped
Regards.

D. Bill visits the Westside apparel store at Mall X more frequently than Andy does.
How one can say this, it could be
--Andy visits even more than Bill but they both have not recognised or saw eventhough the store is small
--Andy might visit on different days and time may 3 times in a week on Mon,Tue,Wed on morning hours and Bill visits on Thu, Fri , Sat on evening hours
--Also happens that Bill visits more no.of times on the same and Andy stays longer on the same day like on Sundays and Andy visits every day when Bill is not . but no.of times both visits could be same

E. The Westside store, being a mini store is mostly visited by loyal customers of Westside when they visit
Mall X.
Loyal means when anyone visits/uses more frequently so mostly visited by loyal ones. Bill already confirmed he is loyal and Andy might not be Loyal but that does not negate the wordings of E. It only talks about loyal customers but not about Andy or Bill.

I think E is the best answer, can anyone argue and prove me wrong please so that I can change my way of understanding.

--Andy visits even more than Bill but they both have not recognised or saw eventhough the store is small:
After all, the Westside store at mall X is a mini store capable of accommodating very few customers at the same time.
The word "after all" is good enough to presume that people will see each other when they visit the store simultaneously - however the assumption that when they see each other they would not recognize each other is a bit too far-fetched in this context.

--Andy might visit on different days and time may 3 times in a week on Mon,Tue,Wed on morning hours and Bill visits on Thu, Fri , Sat on evening hours.
Not possible - whenever Andy visits, he sees Bill almost everytime.

--Also happens that Bill visits more no.of times on the same and Andy stays longer on the same day like on Sundays and Andy visits every day when Bill is not . but no.of times both visits could be same.
Not possible - if Andy visits everyday, then Bill must visit almost everyday - Andy sees bill almost on every visit.

This questions is almost a mathematical problem and it can be inferred, without much ambiguity, that Bill travels almost five times as frequently as Andy. D is the correct answer.

Nothing has been mentioned about what kind of customers visit the stores - other than Andy and bill, no other customer has been mentioned - even for Andy and Bill it is not mentioned whether they are loyal. ( say Andy visits 5 times in 1 year and Andy visits once in 1 year - or may be 10 years - that is not likely be sign of loyalty) - nothing can be concluded about the loyalty of Andy, Bill or any other customer visiting the store. Therefore option E is wrong.
