I'll pick D.
A has redundancy in consensus of opinion & cooperate together
B has redundancy in consensus of opinion.
each person cooperates is right, not each person cooperate.

Tricky One!
My pick is C.
By X of Y rule, the verb should match Y hence demand it is.
B,D,E out.
Out of A and C, C is better since "consensus of opinion" in A sounds redundant.

demand should modify students which is plural hence demand should be used and not demands. This leaves out B,D and E. A is too wordy.
Hence the answer should be C
Whats the OA?

C it is
Who starts a restrictive clause modifying students, so need plural verb. Need demand instead of demands..
B, D, E are out
each and every person can be easily replaced with each.

I am going out on a limb and choosing E. I thought the rule for objects of prepositions was that the verb followed the object only if the words some, any, most, all, or none are used. If the list also contains one, then I am glad Paul has posted this. Part two of the sentence: is the use of could correct? Does one demand so that a conclusion could be reached? It seems a bit conditional to me (it could be reached but it can't?). I will be watching this one closely.

I will go with D
A & B – has redundancy
C – requires singular demands
E – ‘each’ requires singular cooperates

D is wrong because demand, wish and order should be accompanied by subjuctive mood.
D is using cooperate(s) instead of using cooperate.

How about this question Paul ? Do we use "includes" or "include" ?
A South American bird that forages for winged termites and other small insects while swinging upside down form the foliage of tall trees, the graveteiro belongs to the ovenbird family, a group of New World tropical birds that includes more than 230 species and that are represented in virtually every kind of habitat.
A) graveteiro belongs to the ovenbird family, a group of New World tropical birds that includes more than 230 species and that are
B) graveteiro belongs to the ovenbird family, a group of New World tropical birds that includes more than 230 species and is
C) graveteiro belongs to the ovenbird family, a group of New World tropical birds that include more than 230 species and is

from http://www.grammarbook.com/grammar/subjectVerbAgree.asp
here´s what it says:
Sometimes you will see the pronoun who, that, or which appears as the subject in the middle of the sentence, followed by a verb. This means that who, that, or which is the subject of the verb following it. The pronouns who, that, and which become singular or plural according to the noun directly in front of them. So, if that noun is singular, use a singular verb. If it is plural, use a plural verb.
Examples Charlene is the scientist who write/writes the reports.
The word in front of who is scientist, which is singular. Therefore, use the singular verb writes.
He is one of the men who does/do the work.
The word in front of who is men, which is plural. Therefore, use the plural verb do.
From this, we see that the answer is C.

i think it is B, the only gramatically correct expression......

the only one correct, C is right.
A)
Wrong, consensus is always of "opinion"
B) Wrong, for the same reason as A
C) Correct
D) wrong, cooperates should be cooperate
E) referring to Angela
I think the most confusing here is what "who" refers to ..

Paul is doing good job as a moderator. Apart from explaining the complex issues, he is posting some real gmat-type questions.
Thats really a constructive work. I expect more from you and from others (supercat, Banerjee, Honghu, etc.............) not only in verbal but also in quantitative.
thanx paul.

B) demands that each and every person cooperate in order to reach a consensus of opinion. E) demands that each person cooperate so that a consensus can be reached.
Wow, good one! Not easy, but a couple points:
-- one ... who demands. That definitely narrows it down to B/D/E
-- cooperate is the correct verb form. why? A subjunctive mood verb is needed to follow demands.
eg .... Bob shaves every morning.
But, .. The Drill Sargeant demands that Bob shave every morning [subjunctive].
-- OK, that gets us to B or E. Hmmm, seems debatable. I could say that "consensus of opinion" and "each and every" are redundant and wordy, hence E. OR, I could say that "consensus can be reached" is unnecessarily in passive voice, hence B.
OK, with less confidence than usual I'd pick (E) -- I think there may be something a bit wrong in saying "each and every person" can reach a consensus, since an individual cannot, by definition, reach a consensus; but from the interaction of a group, a consensus can be reached (just as, conciousness emerges from the interaction of your brain's neurons, to go a bit off the deep end).
And, passive voice isn't a felony, you just don't want to overuse it.

Paul,
now its your turn to post OA and your explanation because it is confusing that E is correct as explained by Supercat...
I still think it is C...

demand vs demands -> I'll pick demands since Angela is a singular subject. A and C are out. (I know about the x of y rule, but that only works if you're having an indefinite pronoun such as some, any, none, all, most)
In B, each and every is redundant. So B is out.
In E, cooperate is wrong since person is singular.
D it is.

Wilfred, I think you need the subjunctive --cooperate.
