I. tells that C is in between A and B.. But doesnt tell us anything abt D.. D can be to the left of C or to the right of C..

II. doesnt help either

Combining,
we still dont know whetehr D is to the left of C or right of C.. in both cases, D is to the rightof A..

Given, |A-B|=18, |C-D| =8
|B-D| = ?

stmt1. means that c is the half way between A and B.
So, |A-C| = |B-C| = 9, insuff.

stmt2. A<D, insuff.

stmt 1+2.

i) if A>B
=> B<C<A<D impossible
ii) if A<B
=> A<C<D<B or A<D<C<B
|B-D| = 1 or |B-D| = 17

thus insuff.

Ans is E
