Antivirus software - Q for software gurus [#permalink]
13 Mar 2007, 09:52
My Norton antivirus protection will expire soon... should I renew or look for an alternative? If so which one do you suggest?
I heard that there are free options out there but not sure if they can be trusted....
...tomorrow I will depend on you to help me choose what to have for breakfast

I use AVG Free ( version 7.5). http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
They are pretty legit..I think Cisco has some partnership (or ownership) of them, not sure though.

Kaspersky and NOD32 are the best. However I use the Symantec Corporate Client Security. It's a nice small program and has a virus scanner and a firewall integrated in the package.

Well, it just tends to digest all available resources of you PC so if you do not own a really juiced up machine you are guaranteed to bite your elbows off while Kaspersly pushes it's productivity close to zero. Oh... and it tends to conflict with other applications a lot.
