I had a similar observation regarding Anderson after reading the businessweek forums. I guess for me Anderson makes more sense given its e-ship offering and in-state tuition.

We certainly welcome more discussion of UCLA/Anderson. UCLA seemed to generate more discussion in previous admissions seasons while this season Yale and Cornell seem to have come up more frequently. The buzz surrounding schools in the same cluster is pretty cyclical and part of the interest in Yale might have to do with Yale's recent curriculum changes.

I also noticed that the UCLA buzz is low compared to other schools of the elite cluster. not only here, but also on bweek forums and admissions411. i wonder if this buzz also correlates to actual application volume to some extent...

That's good for us.
While everyone is killing each other to get into Chicago, Stanford, Wharton, etc. we get to stroll into Anderson.

I have decided to apply to UCLA second round if I don't get into Chicago. I am going up for a visit and information session on Thursday.

You shouldn't. UCLA is a bad school. You should apply to USC.

haha, why do you say that? I actually went to USC as an undergrad and majored in business/finance. To me the best thing about USC is the alumni network in southern california...and i guess I feel I already got that having gone as an undergrad.
I am going up for the UCLA info. session tomorrow. Has anybody been to one of those? How did it go? How long is it?

Also, is it too late for me to register for an interview. All the spots are taken. Would I get invited to one if I just applied. Being somewhat of a local (I live in San Diego) it probably doesn't look good that I didn't make it to an interview.

Have any applicants received an email from UCLA regarding a hacker gaining access to SSN's, DOB, Address, etc....?
Someone (an MBA applicant) posted on BW forums that they received an email about this incident.
I haven't heard anything, but I am a bit concerned.
Here are the news articles:

Anybody interview with Linda Baldwin. I hear she is a tough interview.
I wonder if she interviews the candidates with less than stellar GPAs and GMAT scores to see if they can overcome the numbers in another way, such as an interview.

I have not interviewed with her, but I have read reports that she does like to grill people about their GPA & GMAT scores - even telling candidates to their faces "your scores are not up to par, but you already know that." I agree with homefry that it can be an opportunity to overcome the numbers, but you need to really be ready for it.

My numbers are in the range (730 GMAT, 3.38 GPA) and my interview is this Saturday.
I was just wondering who I'd be interviewing with.
There's a huge difference between interviewing with Linda and interviewing with a student/alumni. It doesn't seem random. That is, it seems like Linda would interview the applicants with less than stellar numbers to see what else they can bring.

homefry, are you interviewing at one of those "super saturday" events?
i did mine on a super sat back in october and had a 30 min interview with an alum. he was a really cool guy- super laid back interview, and pretty crunched for time since they had a tight schedule to follow.

Yeah, it's the super saturday. I hope I get a student/alum.
How was your interview laid back? Did it seem like he was just going through the motions (questions)? or did it seem more like a conversation?

it was laid back in the sense that it was very informal and comfortable. it seemed like his main goal was to get a feel for what kind of a person i was. not a hint of interrogation at all. i was glad to see that he was geniunely passionate about his experience at anderson

I am also going up for an interview Saturday. It is hard to prepare though when all I can think of is the Chicago decision on Wednesday.
