I think I understand what I need from my essays, but I don't have enough people to help me review for errors, and ensure I answering the question.

Anyone use editavenue.com?

I've used it once for corrections on an essay not related to applications. it was for my thesis. they worked well if you're only doing grammer and spelling. cheap too. but for best rates make sure you have at least a week in advance.
