Any Waitlist News Yet?? [#permalink]

Anyone on a waitlist hear anything either way?

I talked to a Top 5 adcomm member this weekend. Most of the top tier schools aren't taking anyone off their waitlist or R3. R1 and R2 were exceptionally good this year

I was put on R1 WL's for Chicago and Berkeley. R2 WL for NYU. Wrote follow-up letters to Chicago and Berkeley, and submitted another rec. Got into Berkeley, matriculating, still on the WL for Chicago and NYU.

I wouldn't put much behind that statement considering people have gotten off the WL at Berkely and other schools - Yale took a WLster (not sure if it was this board or BW) and Darden was still talking people in rd 4.

I guess I'll learn my fate at Chicago tomorrow. I'm a R1 WL.

Tomorrow is the answer day for Chicago. They are releasing decisions at 9:00 AM - accept, reject, or WL.

Yeah - I didnt realize they had a specific date in mind but from what I gather this week is a big wait list update week for many schools.

Seems like on businessweek there has been small movements at different schools. However, it doesnt look like a lot of the top schools are taking a whole lot of people off the list. Considering all the strong looking profiles and the overall increase in applications this year I am nervous about my chances for applying this coming fall. Better make sure I apply as early as I can for my top few schools for the best chances.

If there's no way that you would reneg on your acceptance at Berkley, don't you owe it to your fellow WL candidates to voluntarily take yourself off the Chicago and NYU waitlists?
I can understand not doing so if you aren't sure, but if you've already made up your mind, why remain on those wait lists?

Good point, flapjack, I will do that. I guess it hadn't really occured to me. I'm not sure how it would affect anyone else's candidacy, but it can't hurt.

Less people on the list means less people to choose from = greater chances of acceptance.
