Here is a little bit of my background:
3.8+ cumulative gpa, 4.0 economics major~top 30 USA university
numerous math classes including calc sequence, time series, probability, stochastic processes, linear algebra, regression analysis, econometrics
gre 800 (94%) Q/ 550 V (73%)/ 5.0 A (73%)
worked at the federal reserve past 2.5 years
solid recs from phds from harvard and columbia

the interview process was very qucik and general...only lasted about 25 minutes..asked basic things like explain my background, why vanderbilt, why the area of finance i want to enter, will i be able to handle rigor of program combined with interviewing, and how have i dealt with superiors (been willing to provide input or changes)...the lady i interviewed with was very friendly...

now i just have to decide if i should wait to hear from princeton in march...vandy told me that they wont be able to help me line up a summer 07 internship until i put down a deposit....

Cool bcbheel,

I'm in at Vandy too. They called me at 5am(I'm in Hawaii) so I was half asleep at the time :). I will most likely attend, just have to convince my gf.

My interview was similar to bcb's. We had the same interviewer and she was very easy to talk to. I had all the typical questions, like why the msf, what do I want to do etc. They also had 1 behavioral question.

Maybe I will get to see some of you there :).

Just wanted to let everyone know I have been asked to come up to Princeton for an interview next week. If I get in, I will have a tough decision to make between vandy (w/ $10k scholarship) and princeton!

Nice bcbheel!

Princeton's placement is as good as you can get, especially since you mentioned IB in NY. I have a feeling that even with other offers Princeton will be hard to pass up.

So, will you still be attending Vandy's discovery weekend?

Also, has anyone applied to Washington University in St.Louis? I'm a little curious about their program since there wasn't much info availible on the website. One thing I did notice was that there were no electives.

hey yeah i am going to the vandy discover weekend on feb 8.....i really like the program so far....

i decided not to apply to washu because of 3 things: fixed curriculum (no flexibility whatsoever), location, and no financial aid offerings...

bcbheel,

Cool, I'll probably see you at the weekend.

rrong,

The Discover Weekend is on feb 8-9 and is a day and a half event that gives prospective and admitted students a chance to learn more about the program and meet current students, alumni, faculty and staff.

So the discovery weekend is sort of like open house....do they accommodate you and reimburse your airfair sort of thing?

Please give the debrief of the discovery weekend, when it's done. thanks ahead,,,,

HI bebheel,

I have been asked to have a phone interview by Princeton too. Have you finished it? What are the questions they asked you?

The interview at Princeton was fairly similar to the one I had at Vanderbilt (see above). My interviewer, Wendell, was extremely friendly. I had a in-person interview which was only supposed to last around a half hour but went about 1 hour in total. We talked about my background, why I wanted to attend Princeton, where I wanted to go after grad school, what I have done to prepare for grad school and career, and then a lot of questions about my job (though this might have just been because of where I work (the Fed)). Wendell definitely put me at ease and was a great person to speak with. She also threw in some questions to see my thought process (similar to a question like how many red cars are there in the US).

My interviewer will be Wendell too....

So no financial questions?

BTW, what's the answer of the logical question you listed above?
