Anyone been to the MBA Tour Events [#permalink]
27 Jul 2010, 09:30
I am looking at some schools of interest and they have MBA Tour dates and I looked at the MBA Tour site and it looks promising : http://www.thembatour.com/events/newYorkCity.shtmlI am curious if anyone has gone to these and can give some insight (what to/not do, how to mingle etc.) on this? I know some schools i probably wont be able to visit mostly due to vaca days and I am planning to visit their NY info sessions if possible but if the Tour is just as good I might focus on the tour more? thanks

Here's a short discussion after the MBA Tour in NYC back in Feb. The schools basically give their standard presentations during allocated time slots. Then there is a meet and greet type of thing after. I guess it's good to mingle with the school reps but most of the info you will get you can find on the internet. mba-tour-89627.html?hilit=MBA%20Tour

If you aren't in the US it does present some value. I wouldn't go with too high an expectation though.

perseverance - Thanks for the link to the other thread.
shaselai - I'm planning on attending the event near me mainly because all the schools to which I'm applying are far away, so this is an opportunity to get some more information from a few of them.
For those who have attended these events, what would be your recommended dress code? It didn't seem like that question was answered in the other thread. And I'm assuming we should bring resumes and business cards with us just in case and have pen and paper handy; anything else that we should bring? Or anything additional to prepare?

I wore a suit but was probably in the minority that did. Most people were in business casual and I saw some people in jeans. I would advise against wearing street clothes there. Dress business casual at the very least. Prepare some questions for the school reps and have a rough idea of your standard 'why an mba, why now, why X school?' pitch.
