aplicant for sept 2005 (preprep from today??) [#permalink] New post 13 Jun 2004, 19:49
Hi,
my location : toronto
Undergrad: BEng IT (bombay), June 2003.
gmat score: 580(43,27)
570(42,28)
work Exp : currently an yr but intendin to apply for sept 2005.so will reach the minimum requirement of 2 yrs stated by the b schools.

I intend to study in Canada only as I would be a local applicant and thus less fees. I am thinking to give a reattempt for gmat in Mid aug 2004. and then gve a few mnths to improving my community activity, resume, essays. My target specialization in hospitality and service as I intend to enter into the hotel industry management or second option international business.I am not running the race for top 10 bschools but target are york, mcmaster, mcgill.
Could you please advise me over wht steps I take in pre preparing from right now for application for Sept 2005.
Also after my 2 performances I see myself reachin to 640-650 realistcaly.nothing more than that. how do I make my application worth the admissions committees notice with the above stats.
also as per your experiences which B school in canada I must think of for actually gettin an admit in sept 2005 with the above stats.
Also any word on Victoria University, BC MBA(has specilization in hospitality and service)

You can find much advice on MBA admissions and the applicationat the Accepted.com web site.

In addition I would like to invite you and other GMAT Club members to a teleseminar that Accepted.com is co-hosting with Manhattan GMAT: Intro to the GMAT and B-School Applications.. This teleseminar wil take place this Friday, June 18 at 10:00 AM PT/1:00 PM ET/6:00 PM GMT. The seminar will include a look at the structure of the GMAT and of its questions as well as an examination of the role played by different elements of the application.

Finally, our ebook, Best Practices for 2005 MBA Admissions, gives lots of advice on positioning yourself and strategies for the 2005 MBA application.

The articles and teleseminar are free.

A mid-600's GMAT score is competitive for York, McMaster, and McGill's MBA programs. I am not familiar with Victoria's program. If you want to consider American programs, look into the Unversity of Nevada at Las Vegas or Cornell. Both have specialities in hospitality, although your GMAT, depending on where it ends up, may be a problem at Cornell. If you get financial aid, at the American schools you may end up paying the same.

Good luck!
