Application Essays [#permalink]

Question for everyone/anyone! If the essay guideline says there's no word limit but the typical applicant uses around 500 words, if I exceed this by roughly 40 words or so is this an issue? Clearly I don't want to send in something 700+ words and miss the point about being concise and delivering my message. However I find it hard to cut out any detail from my current essay and I'm at about 542 words right now. In general, is say being 5-10% over the "normal" amount considered acceptable? Thanks!

Of course not! Around 500 means that, +- 100 words. I don't see the problem.
Good luck!
