I am applying to the University of Chicago and I was curious if there was any advantage or disadvantage to applying online versus completely through the mail. Do most schools prefer you submit through their online application process?

Thanks

In general, the application medium has no real effect on your odds of admission. However, it is probably a better idea to use the online app since it is easy to fill out and there is less risk of transcription error (sooner or later your paper application will be entered into the electronic system- either by you or the school). Note that some schools now require all applicants to use the online app.

It makes no difference in the evaluation of your application. The schools prefer the online, because it is easier (and less expensive) for them to process your application.

Good luck!
