Application process question [#permalink] New post 01 Jun 2005, 13:59
Hi group,

Well, I just applied to my "school of choice" last week. They say results will be recieved by July 1st. Which means I am going to be going crazy for the next four weeks. I am 25, I own my own business and also work as a manager in my family corporation. I applied to Eller (University of Arizona) because its a good school and I need to stay here {holy smokes they just called right now as I was writing this post! wierd! about some trancsipt issue}
ANYWAY, I know I have a few good things going for me like: 740 GMAT, 3.75 GPA, 400+ hours volunteer exp at a local hospice, I'm well traveled (19 countries), Hispanic (does that mean anything?), did I mention I own and manage a business?
I only have 2 years post-grad work experience, however, I worked full time while I was in school. I SCREWED UP a little in college and dropped some classes and had a bad semester in general. But I pulled together my last 2 years and graduated with honors and deans list and all that.
SO, I was wondering if you could give me a quick run-down of how the application process works. Like, around how many people read my essays and app (who am I telling my life story 2)? Is there a specific order/way that they look through the paper work? Do they all sit around and talk about me after that? What happens in there? Who says yea or nay?
I worry about things. That's one thing that makes me great, and its also a weakness. I am tripping out a bit over this. I know I rock as a student and in business (I also have an ego 8-) ). I want to get an MBA so I can better lead my family corporation. I have experienced failure and I really hate it. I just wish I could know NOW if I'm in or not. Reassure me, give me advice. Thx
(I'm actually much more mature in real life than I come off in this post)fyi

The admissions process varies from school to school and the order in which admissions officers read applications varies by reader. A typical admissions process involves usually 2-3 readers. At some schools the director reads all files at least cursorily, but usually often they only read files if the two previous readers did not agree. Frequenlty the committees do discuss candidates, but I don't think that happens at all schools for all files. Sorry, I don't know Eller's specific process.

Your numbers are more than competitive for Eller. As long as your essays do come across as your more mature real life self, you should hear good news.
Good luck!
