I think its good to keep things a little light around here. So here I go. I got to thinking, as I was writing my harvard career vision essay how I want them to hear trumpets sort of as I announce what it is I want to do. If it sounds presumptious, its not, I certainly am not. Its just more my sense of humor.
So. I ask you all. What song if you could would you
(1) Most want playing as the adcom reads your career goals essay?
(2) Least want playing?
for me: 1) "1812 Overture" by Chicago Sympony
2) "Im A Loser" by Beck

I have a few that I would like to choose from, so for humor's sake, I'll list them all For when the adcoms read my app, I first thought of that song by Haddaway, "Baby Don't Hurt Me" but then realized it's actually called "What is Love" and then goes to "Baby don't hurt me" ( I think it was used in Night at the Roxbury's) Nominees for Best Adcom Review Soundtrack #1) "Let Me In" by Young Buck (feat. 50 cent) #2) "Allstar" by Smashmouth #3) "Can't Nobody Hold Me Down" Puff Daddy #4) You Got It (The Right Stuff) - New Kids On The Block Nominees for Worst Adcom Review Soundtrack #1) "[He's] a Maniac" by Hall & Oats (Had to change the pronoun 'cuz I'm not a 'she'). I can't think of any more for the Worst list that haven't been said. I'm going to throw one in that the adcoms should have to listen to after writing my rejection letter (assuming I won't be admitted everywhere): "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me" - Culture Club

What the Harvard AdComs will be listening to as they read my app (if I do one!) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ehl_VQuKRTc - Because they sure as hell won't do anything but take my application money and ding me!

I just thought it really fit for the adcoms reviewing our files. If they don't know us by the end of the application, they'll never know us...because we'll get dinged and not go to that school! ncprasad wrote: Love that song choice. +1 for you! jallenmorris wrote: "If You Don't Know Me By Now" - Simply Red

Here's one for us to listen to when we get the rejection letter from the schools to justify why we got the rejection: Bitch - I think it's by Meryl Bainbridge

Better Together - Jack Johnson
There's no combination of words I could put on the back of a postcard, No song that I could sing But I can try for your heart, Our dreams, and they are made out of real things, Like a shoebox of photographs, With sepiatone loving, Love is the answer At least for most of the questions in my heart , Like why are we here? And where do we go? And how come it's so hard? It's not always easy, And sometimes life can be deceiving, I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together

I remember during the application last season listening to my ipod one day when a song by a friend's band came on...and thinking how fitting it was for lots of people applying to schools. People who regret various choices they made in their lives, from the undergrad school, to jobs, to pretty much everything from high school on...thinking it is going to keep them from their dream now. Interesting note the singer and writer of the song is a Harvard grad. By the Suicide File: The best and the brightest are rotting away Yesterday's heroes are garbage today We made the wrong choices, we took the wrong paths It's easier now just to think of the past Loose lips sank ships and no one survived What could have been is all just a lie High hopes and potential just led to $&#$ Everyone failed, everyone quit We passed out, We dropped out We missed out, We lost out...
