Application submission confusion [#permalink] New post 26 Aug 2013, 05:45
Hi

I am little confused over application submission, since i am still preparing for gmat .

If a school has a R1 deadline of 18 october so i can still take gmat a week before or so and show them the scanned or screen shot of unofficial scores but what about rest of the application like essays and LOR, so i need to submit them before the deadline as well?

Or suppose i make a bschool registration online ,submit my unofficial score before deadline do i get some additional time to submit rest of the application after the deadline?

Thanks

Hi there,

Every component of your application needs to be in the hands of the admissions committee before the deadline for a particular round. There is no leeway. Everything has to be in.

Have you set a date for the GMAT yet? If not, the week before a deadline probably isn't the best idea. You should know your score before you start working on your application. Otherwise your strategy is going to be mostly hypothetical. I mean, without a score in hand, you probably wouldn't have the best idea if you're competitive for a particular school or if you should reassess.

Not sure where you stand in the process but let me know if you have any other questions!

Thank you Bhavik,

What do i loose if i let go R1 and work towards R2?

Is it true that international students applying in R1 gets more scholarships, more acceptance etc comparing to R2?

Targets Bschools US for Fall 2014.

Hey there,

Yes, to a certain degree, you're right. Not just international students, all applicants benefit in R1. The difference between R1 and R2, however, is a little smaller than most think. So if you're not ready to apply in R1, whatever benefit you get from applying early will be counteracted by the quality of your app. Make sense?
