Hey cwary,

I'm kind of in a similar situation. After asking for my work recommendation, the company I was working for wanted to hire someone else for my job. I am currently looking for internship opportunities for the summer in the field I want to go into (investments). I understand you are in a smaller town, so it may be difficult for you to find a marketing internship, but call up a few companies and see if they have anything available. If you do apply for some full time jobs, make sure that it is somehow related to the field you are looking to go into. I have been volunteering in my community as well during my time off, so that can help your resume too. Best of luck!

I've been volunteering as well, here and virtually helping out with some non-profits and their social media strategies, which I think will be good. Right now I'm just waiting on my decisions to see what I'm going to be doing, whether it's looking for a job for two years before I possibly apply again or finding a summer internship. There is a large CPG company close to here I might be able to get some kind of internship out of.
