Apply as a permanent resident or international ? [#permalink] New post 13 Sep 2004, 08:38
Hello,

I am working in the US currently and I am expecting my green card processing to be complete in another 3-4 months.

How do I approach this while completing my b-school (for next fall) Round 1 applications due mid-october? Since I am sure I will obtain a permanent resident status by next fall, should I go ahead and indicate the same in my applications?

My reasoning being - a permanent resident profile and the procedural ease it brings will be viewed differently (favorably ) than an international application.

Pl. advise. Thanks

My "gut reaction" is to apply in whatever status you currently hold unless the school explcitly states otherwise.

If some other status (such as permanent resdnt) is pending, it is logical to mention this on the application, but one is unlikely to know in advance for certain whether some other status will be granted.

Thanks Hjort.

I also happened to be at the HBS event today and asked the admin officers. They suggested using the current status and stressed that the international vs. perm residency aspects are NOT used initially for admitting students.
