Hi GMAT club members!
My objective: get accepted by some top 30 PhD programs in Strategy/Entrepreneurship in the world (does not have to be US only)
My Motivation to Apply to Business PhD:-I am passionate in academic research and I want to study the barriers among technology innovation, business development, and social innovation.
Programs in Consideration:- MIT; Sloan; Technological Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Strategic Management
- INSEAD; Strategy
- University of Toronto; Rotman; Strategic Management
- University of Maryland at College Park; Smith; Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship (SM&E)
- University of North Carolina—Chapel Hill; Kenan-Flagler; Strategy & Entrepreneurship
- Ohio State; Fisher; strategy-and-entrepreneurship
- University of Washington; Foster; Strategy
I need some advice on my application for PhD programs in Strategy/Entrepreneurship. Here are a few questions that I have:Q1, Is there a reasonable chance for me to get into those programs despite my GMAT score being less than 700? (if not, what other schools would you recommend?)
Q2, What would the admission committee think of me when they see someone already with a PhD applying to a business PhD program? (some profs that i hv talked to expressed doubts on my motivation...)
Q3, For my Statement of purpose, what are my biggest strengths that I should emphasize? What are my weaknesses that I should address (such as not having social science research exp)?
Q4, What other schools would be a better fit given my broad interest in studying the relationship among technology, business, and social innovation?
My Background: -26 years old
-GMAT: 690 (50Q, 31V)
-undergrad studied Chemical Engineering in University of Washington, undergrad GPA 3.83
-expected graduation date for my PhD in Bioengineering (in University of Washington): 2015 July/Aug
-published 2 papers, will most likely graduate with at least 4 publications.
-independently developed technologies for the third-world (a water-disinfection device and a cost-effective irrigation device)
-participated in various business competitions (semi-finalist in a nation-wide business competition)
Any other advices would also be appreciated!!! Thank you GMAT club members!
