Appyling to Harvard Business School: College Seniors [#permalink] New post 22 Jun 2008, 17:15
Hi everyone,

I have been searching through these forums and could not find a topic pertaining to this question.

I would like find out what sort of stats would HBS be looking for applying out of college looking to defer for 2 years. As well, as what kind of work experience/extracurriculars would they be looking for.

Ex. Goldman Sachs SA
- Finance Club President

I hear about 5% of the incoming class consist of students who applied as college seniors which would translate into 50 spots (a mix of deferrals/straight from undergrad). Does anyone know how many students apply each year? I know for the overall MBA program it was 8750.

Is there any HBS students who applied as a senior who can weigh in and give some insight as to how they got accepted? Posting your stats and EC'S would help to see where i stand.

Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated.

I dont believe any of our admits this year were right from college..a few were young but still had a few years experience. I think HBS is favoring their deferred admissions program where they admit folks but then require them to work for a few years. They are trending young but thats more people with 2 or 3 years experience not zero.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I should probably edit my post. I have no intention in going to b-school straight from undergrad. However, I would like to work for 2 years and then enter the program. So my question is what are they looking for from undergrads who plan to defer for 2 years?

There's a new program called the 2+2 program at HBS. Search the site or other sources and you should find information. If you contact admissions they might give you detailed info as well.
