C it is.

Architects and stonemasons acts as an appositive to Maya i.e. tells us what Maya was. The Maya is correctly modified by A n' S.

E is fragmented. ...without benefits...built huge palace.

C is clean and forwards the intended meaning. Maya built the palace without any help.

C is it because there is a dangling modifier "Architects and stonemasons". Only when it is followed by "the Maya" everything is in place.
