I agree on what members said before, 690 is already an incredible score, be proud of your achievement....10 pts in the GMAT is not huge, it's quite nothing in fact...but I understand your feeling about breaking the 700 barrier
Incredible jump from 610 to 690 . All the best for your applications! Thanks again for your incredible contribution and I hope you stick around with us. We need people like you around _________________
OK, I agree that 690 is not an awesome score but it is a great score for me because that is what I was aiming for in the beginning. However, I have seen so many people with score higher than 700, which makes me want to try harder and more eager to get to that point. Anyway, I learned my lesson in the first try. I know GMAT is only for MBA admission. And so, there it is. I am done with my “quest.â€
qhoc, I really enjoyed reading your story. On top of your awesome GMAT score, you got a unique profile by serving your country and it is something very rewarding. I find the story with the rockets flying over your head quite funny yet scary as to the level of concentration one can have for the GMAT while one's life is at stake.
Qhoc, tell me that you already knew english before coming to America because how can you score so well on the GMAT otherwise Anyhow, I wish you all the best.
Yes, Paul. I have learned some English before I came to America. But it was very limited. I knew a little about grammar and how to ask for simple questions (less than 15 words). I have never successfully read a book in English (even for kids) at that time. My language in the beginning was very slow because I have to do all the translation in my head.
qhoc0010, I thought I was sacrificing a lot of my personal time to study for GMAT whilst working full time. Your situation of needing to study for GMAT in a country at war puts a lot of things in the right perspective for me.
Thanks for all the discussions at GMAT club and try to visit us occasionally.
With the motivation and determination that you have, I think you will go places. Best wishes!
Wow, phoc, that is extraordinory. I admire your courage to serve the country as well as your great effort to study while in service. You have an outstanding profile to present to whatever school you choose to apply. I wish you the best!
amazing story from a member that is going to reach soon 1000 posts it was nice to share your story with us qhoc0010, and actually you might be the youngest guy around here 22 yo..crazy....with my 26 years I am still fighting to reach 650
